(NEWSER) – Out, damn spots! Legendary flyer Amelia Earhart hated her freckles, and now a very old jar of anti-freckle cream discovered on a remote Pacific island is adding to evidence that searches may have found her final resting place. The jar, broken in five pieces, was found by researchers for the International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery on Nikumaroro Island, where many are convinced Earhart’s plane went down in 1937 as she attempted to circumnavigate the globe. The reassembled jar is similar to early 20th-century containers for Dr. CH Berry’s Freckle Ointment. “It’s well-documented Amelia had freckles and disliked having them,” one researcher told Discovery News.
